How they bill (and why it matters for beginners)
- Lovable uses credits. On paid plans, one credit balance covers building, hosting (Lovable Cloud) and AI features inside your app. Lovable's examples range from 0.50 credits for “Make the button gray” to 1.70 credits for a landing page with generated images. A Plan mode message costs 1 credit.
- Replit uses credits plus usage. Core includes monthly credits that apply to Agent, publishing, databases and more, with pay-as-you-go billing after that. We list heavy, cost-sensitive agent use as a weakness.
- Bolt uses tokens. Bolt says most token use comes from syncing your project's files to the AI, so the bigger your project, the more tokens each message costs. Paid tokens roll over for one extra month.
Who should pick which
Pick Lovable if…
you're a non-coder shipping an MVP, landing page or CRUD app, and you're happy with a Supabase-backed web app. Skip it for complex custom backend logic or native mobile apps. Get a security review before you store real user data: a 2025 scan found about 10% of 1,645 showcased Lovable apps exposed data through weak Supabase row-level security (CVE-2025-48757). Try Lovable ↗
Pick Replit if…
you want one place to build, store data and host, with no local setup, or you're building an internal tool. Replit's docs also walk through building native iOS and Android apps. Skip it if your team needs to run on its own cloud infrastructure, or if you expect heavy agent use on a tight budget. Try Replit ↗
Pick Bolt.new if…
you want a fast JS/TS prototype in the browser for a demo or hackathon. Skip it for a large codebase you'll maintain for a long time, or if you'll iterate a lot on a small budget. Try Bolt.new ↗ Affiliate link: we may earn a commission. Rankings aren't affected.
What none of them are for
BuildBench gives Lovable and Bolt.new a Skip for refactoring a large existing codebase. For that job, look at coding agents like Cursor or Claude Code in our directory.
